Bio
Avash Rijal is the General Secretary of the Human Rights Film Center, where he leads the Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival, a flagship platform using cinema to advance human rights and social justice in South Asia. An alumnus of the IDFA Academy 2023, Avash is deeply committed to impact-driven storytelling and justice-centered media practices. His upcoming feature documentary, Kharka Janya: Shepherd's Journey from Nepal to Tibet, has been recognized at Dhaka Doc Lab 2022 and selected at Doc Edge Kolkata 2023. Beyond filmmaking, Avash is an accomplished journalist in Nepal, known for reporting on pressing social issues and amplifying marginalized voices. Through his work, he bridges media, advocacy, and community engagement, embodying the values of inclusivity, transparency, and solidarity central to GIPA’s mission.
