Bio

Hasib Shakil aims to prosper inclusion in cinema across the globe. As a Bangladeshi film producer, Hasib wants to collaborate in international co-production and uphold diasporic stories. After graduating from the prestigious IFBA 2022 program at Busan Asian Film School (AFiS), he is developing two features: Hiranyakashipu (India-Bangladesh-Indonesia) and Necrophile (Bangladesh-Australia). His shorts “Memories & Miseries” are ready for a festival run, and “Jaal” (Bangladesh-UK-India) is in the post-production stage. Additionally, he serves as a Guest Lecturer in the Producing Department of the Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI), which is the only government film school in Bangladesh. He also co-founded the Independent Film Producer’s Platform of Bangladesh (IFPPB) to foster independent cinema and facilitate young filmmakers in Bangladesh to educate and network with global collaboration. IFPPB is working on independent filmmaking industrial development in Bangladesh with their latest goal of enhancing the short film marketplace. Hasib served as a Filmmaking and Scriptwriting instructor at BRAC University from 2018-19 and produced 8 student short films. His short film “Raven” has received Special Jury Award at the 10th Shimla International Film Festival, Best Short Film at 6th Hill Film Festival, Bangladesh, and screened in 17 prestigious festivals, including Tokyo International Short Film Festival 2025, 13th International Film Festival of South Asia (IFFSA) Toronto 2024, Canada, 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024, Melbourne, Australia, 12th Indo-German Film Week 2024, Berlin, Germany, 13th DC South Asian Film Festival 2024, Washington DC, USA, etc. Furthermore, Hasib won the CHORKI FAB FEST 2022 with his web series "AUKU '', while his feature films “Hiranyakashipu” and “Necrophile” have been in NFDC Screenwriter’s Lab 2021 and Dhaka West Meets East Screenwriter’s Lab 2023, respectively. “Hiranyakashipu” was also selected for the Project Market of the 7th Hanoi International Film Festival 2024. His short documentary “Human Health and Environmental Cost and Benefits of Liquified Petroleum Gas” has won the Global Health Video Documentary in Consortium of Universities of Global Health (Documentary Pulitzer) in 2023, whereas “PALA GAAN—Enlightenment against Social Darkness” won Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Film on Art and Culture 2022 (Osun Network), and Best Film 2nd GSPC Nationals.
