Bio

Janay (She/Her) is an award-winning Lebanese/British journalist and producer who has worked for the past 10 years for BBC News. She began her career in Lebanon as a documentary filmmaker before she moved to the UK. She is multi-skilled with experience in short and long-form documentaries for TV and Digital platforms and has produced several documentaries for BBC News and al-Jazeera. Her passion for human stories from and about the Middle East has developed an interest in impact production. After training at the Doha Film Institute's Producer's Lab, she attended an Impact Lab by Beirut DC in collaboration with DocSociety. Her work as an impact producer for BBC News Arabic recently won an award Amnesty Media Awards 2022. She is Albert trained in Green Producing and is looking to combine her skills and move from TV production to independent production.
