Bio

Nauzanin Knight is a Canadian writer, director, and producer of Afro-Caribbean and Middle Eastern descent whose work explores the universality of human emotion across borders. A former academic with an MSc from University College London, she transitioned from publishing "State Terrorism in Iran" to crafting socially resonant films that inspire change. Her work spans documentary and narrative forms and has screened internationally, including "The Forbidden University" (feature doc; EP Penn Badgley), distributed by Espresso Media and West Wind Releasing which addresses the resilience of the Baha'is in Iran who have been deprived access to higher level education and formed an underground university, "Trusted to Serve" (distributed by KinoSmith), which exposes racism and far-right extremism in Canada’s military, and "Precarity" (TELUS Optik), on the precarious lives of temporary foreign workers in Alberta. She is currently developing "White Sands," a feature documentary with DARE Pics (UK), originally developed with the National Film Board of Canada, which investigates the origins of white supremacy, as well as "The Uncertainty Complex," a feature documentary examining global health security in the age of anti-vaccine sentiment. As Executive Producer of 1844 Studios, Nauzanin leads a slate of globally relevant, culturally grounded projects while advancing equity in the screen industry as a mentor and advocate. She is an alumna of WIDC, ReelWorld, and Whistler Doc Lab.
