Bio
Vickie is a filmmaker, impact producer, and a mother with over a decade of experience working in nonfiction film. She is the Emmy-winning writer of The Social Dilemma, a film that took on the harmful business models of the world's largest tech companies. Her writing credits include the Netflix Original film Chasing Coral, Searching for Amani, Unearth, We are Guardians, and Island Soldier. She gravitates toward projects that reveal the inhumane systems beneath our environmental and social crises, including the stories of artists and young people who are working to mend the social fabric. She recently directed and produced the Sheffield Jury Award-winning film, Comparsa. In addition to writing and directing, Vickie has collaborated on impact strategy for many of her films, including designing and producing education initiatives to catalyze youth agency and engagement. She has experience crafting the narrative of an impact campaign, writing pitch decks, impact budgeting, combining impact with direct distribution, and partnering with film subjects, grassroots movements, and NGOs to design and deliver impact campaigns. She spent 4 years teaching Arts & Humanities in progressive education high schools, which continues to inform her film and impact work.
