Bio
Born to a Lebanese father and a Syrian mother, Wissam Tanios studied Filmmaking at Saint Joseph University in Beirut. His favorite is the cinema that tackles themes like family, detachment, loss, and grief. His short documentary Aftermath won Best Documentary at the Lebanese Film Festival in 2012. Departures, his second short film, was competing in many film festivals worldwide and won the best narrative short award at the 2nd Annual Alwan Awards, New York. His first feature documentary film "We Are From There", premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2020. Among many other awards, the film won Best Arab Film and Best Non-Fiction Film at the Cairo International Film Festival. While his debut feature documentary is still traveling worldwide, Wissam is currently developing his first narrative feature film.
